Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Growing up in the crowded northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC, it's hard to say where my love of nature first took root. I suppose it was a natural extension of my love for horses, which was an all-consuming passion from elementary school on.
My husband and I lived for many years on a three-acre plot of land in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, where we raised our beautiful daughter and an abundance of animals, including my beloved horses, and many cats and dogs. I indulged my passion for gardening and crafting over the years, too, and in many ways, it was an idyllic situation. We stayed rooted for over 25 years.
Still, something in me kept crying out for more wide-open space, more soil to plant in, more animals to care for. (Chickens! I wanted chickens!) Over the years, we looked at many houses and acreage, but never saw anything that compelled us to buy. Finally, one day, there it was. The perfect house. The perfect land. The perfect embodiment of my dream of living on a farm.
I christened our new home Glencross Farm after an ancestral Scottish family surname. We're still getting to know each other, this new land and I, but I'm here to stay.
So, I hope you will share with us the small part of Glencross Farm that is represented here by the products we offer. We love sharing them with you.
All in all, I have to say the chickens and I are very happy.
We hope, wherever you call home, you are, too.
